Iva Peša is a social and environmental historian of Central Africa. From September 2019, she will be Assistant Professor of Contemporary History at Groningen University. She has held postdoctoral research positions at the University of Oxford (2017-2019, Comparing the Copperbelt ERC project) and within the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus collaboration (2014-2016 Centre for Frugal Innovation in Africa). For her PhD research (Leiden University, 2014) on the social history of Mwinilunga District in North-Western Zambia, she has written about the agricultural history and appropriation of cassava in Central Africa. Currently, she is working on an article on urban agriculture on the Central African Copperbelt. Roads Through Mwinilunga, a book based on her PhD thesis, has just been published with Brill.
