Jon Verriet studied Cultural History (MA) at Utrecht University. He wrote his thesis on the history of the ready-made meal in the Netherlands, stressing the importance of cultural values. Verriet has been a member of the Food Studies research group (FOST) of the Free University of Brussels (VUB) since 2013, where he is working on a Ph.D proposal and on several publications. His article ‘Ready meals and cultural values in the Netherlands, 1950–1970’ in Food & History. was awarded the Joop Witteveen Prijs 2014.
